Service Fuel Level Inspection

  • Connect the fuel level clear hose (A) to the carburetor float bowl.
  • Hold the clear hose vertically against the side of the carburetor body so that the middle line (B) is several millimeters higher than the lower edge (C) of the float bowl skirt.
  • Turn the fuel tap to PRIME then turn the carburetor drain plug (D) out a few turns.
  • Wait until the fuel level in the clear hose settles.
  • Keeping the clear hose vertical, slowly lower the clear hose until the middle line is even with the lower edge of the float bowl.

For your information!

Do not lower the middle line below the lower edge of the float bowl skirt. If the clear hose is lowered and the raised again, the fuel level measured shows somewhat higher than the actual fuel level. If the clear hose is lowered too far, dump the fuel out of it into a suitable container and start the procedure over again.

  • Read the fuel level (E) in the clear hose and compare to the specification.
  • Tighten the drain plug and remove the clear hose.

For your information!

To make it simpler, the fuel level should be about even with top of the carb bowl (C), it can be 1/8" higher or lower than (C).
